August 26, 2026— Please be advised that emergency repairs will cause a temporary water turn off at Highland Avenue between Park Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue in Newark’s North Ward. Newark Water & Sewer crews are working diligently to finish repairs as soon as possible to restore water services. Repairs are expected to be complete within the next few hours. Newark to Replace 250 Fire Hydrants in 2025 and 2026: Temporary Water Disruptions Expected During Replacements
August 4, 2025 - The City of Newark’s Fire Hydrant Replacement Program began on Monday, August 4, 2025. 250 damaged fire hydrants are slated for replacement between 2025 and 2026. Residents may experience temporary water disruptions for about 2-4 hours during replacements. Residents will receive advance notice of work in their area via mail.
