Thursday, January 9, 2025 — A fire line leak on Green Street is being repaired today by water and sewer crew members. This is NOT a water main break. Domestic water service remains unaffected and is operating as usual.

The City of Newark and NJDEP’s Official Statement on the Lead Service Line Replacement Investigation
The City of Newark and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) are pleased by the latest developments in an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office that resulted in the arrests of two individuals who are charged with fraud by failing to fully replace lead service lines at sites that required remediation between 2019 and 2021.
Newark Water & Sewer Announces New Billing Procedure
The City of Newark Department of Water & Sewer Utilities will change its billing cycle beginning this month. The new cycle ensures customers will receive their bills by the 15th of each month and will have 15 days to pay the bill after it was received.
CITYWIDE FLASH FLOOD WARNING
The National Weather Service placed a FLASH FLOOD WARNING for Newark, NJ on the night of August 18, 2024. Water and sewer personnel and clean-up crews are actively surveying the city to resolve any remaining issues.
4.8 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE— NO RECOMMENDED ACTION
As a result of the magnitude 4.8 earthquake this morning, Newark Water & Sewer, along with fire, police, and other uniformed personnel, are actively surveying the area for damage. There is no impact to Newark water and sewer services at this time-- essential services are operating as usual.
