Coastal Flood Statement for May 22, 2025

May 22, 2025 — The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Statement for Eastern Essex County, which includes the City of Newark, New Jersey.

Brief and minor flooding of up to six inches is expected at vulnerable areas near the Passaic River and other waterfronts or shorelines.

Residents at or near these zones are advised to prepare accordingly for possible flooding.

The ‘Coastal Flood Statement’ will be in place from 2 PM until 7 PM. This is not an emergency.
