The co-recipients for November’s Employee of the Month at the Newark Department of Water and Sewer Utilities are Erica Espiritusanto and Sandra Currais.
Erica Espiritusanto is a Mechanical Engineer who joined the Department April 6, 2020. Among Erica’s many accomplishments, she has earned recognition recently for her tireless efforts and successful management of the Pequannock Water Treatment Plant’s Salt and Decant Tank Cleaning Projects. In that role, she worked with Director’s office to get the project approved and funded. She also coordinated efforts with various other engineers and plant staff to get the projects completed on time and on budget. Consequently, there were no negative impacts on water quality during the execution of these complex projects. In addition, Erica has worked on numerous electrical and HVAC projects, also with successful outcomes supporting the Department’s constant quest to be Best in Class.
Sandra Currais has shown excellent work ethic and a tenacity that is admirable and praise-worthy. With less than two years at Newark Water & Sewer, Ms. Currais is an Administrative Analyst and has learned a lot, much with her own efforts, on how to go about getting her work done efficiently and promptly and helping the department stay on course in accomplishing its goal of serving the City and its residents. Some examples of Ms. Currais' good work ethic are the following: not wasting any time when preparing legislation for contracts and change orders, her ability to be attentive and keep track of instructions so that they don't have to be repeated, and filing important legal and other communique when requested. Ms. Currais strives to be present at work and avoids abusing time off.
