Public Notice
City of Newark
Essex County, New Jersey
Green Parks Project
State Project No. S340815-30
In accordance with procedures established to evaluate projects that have applied for assistance under the New Jersey Environmental Infrastructure Financing Program (EIFP), a Level 1 environmental review has been conducted on the proposed project, which will involve the construction of green infrastructure (enhanced tree trenches, stormwater planters, stormwater planter bump-outs, and porous concrete panels) to be located in Bo Porter Sports Complex, Homestead Park, Mildred Helms Park, and the New Jersey Regional Day School within the city limits of Newark. The proposed green infrastructure will be designed to capture stormwater to reduce the amount of runoff conveyed to Newark’s combined sewer system to improve localized drainage and water quality by reducing the overall volume and frequency of combined sewer overflow (CSO) events that adversely impact the receiving water body, environment, and health and safety of the community.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has made a preliminary decision to assist this project under the EIFP. The proposed project costs are as follows:
Proposed Project Cost: $4,050,000
Proposed Loan Amount: $4,050,000
Upon written request, the planning documents and the Department’s Environmental Decision Document will be available for public review at City Hall, 920 Mayor Kenneth A. Gibson Blvd, Rm: B 31-F, Newark, NJ 07102.
