The City of Newark Department of Water and Sewer Utilities complies with procurement practices in accordance with the New Jersey Local Public Contracts Law 40A:11-1 et seq. The City’s purchasing unit is the centralized division through which all City departments must request goods and services. All vendors are encouraged to register at Newarknj.gov to receive automatic notification of bid opportunities.
The Department of Water and Sewer Utilities has contracts in place for construction, engineering, and goods/services. Our Capital Improvement Program addresses infrastructure repairs, new construction, rehabilitation of existing facilities and upgrades to treatment processes. Contract value can range from thousands to multi-million dollars for projects. These projects include but are not limited to water treatment, water distribution, reservoirs, sewer systems, storm water collection system, combined sewer overflows, mechanical maintenance, emergency repairs, evaluations/assessments, electrical, control systems, instrumentation, sludge disposal, structural, HVAC, compliance etc.
