Joint Distribution System Storage Feasibility Study

Project Budget: Over $60 Million

The City is evaluating the feasibility to develop a joint project that may be implemented by the City of Newark (Newark) and the Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) to bring Newark’s Cedar Grove Reservoir (CGR) and PVWC’s Great Notch Reservoir (GNR) into compliance with the Long-Term 2 Enhanced Surface Water Treatment Rule (LT2ESWTR). With this project, the existing uncovered finished water reservoirs will comply with the March 31, 2009 Administrative Consent Order (ACO) from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP), while maintaining or improving water quality, consumer satisfaction, infrastructure resiliency, operational flexibility, and financial viability.
