Project Summary: A brand-new corrosion inhibitor, zinc orthophosphate, was introduced at the Montclair booster station in May of 2019. This was the first project to remediate the rising lead levels in the City’s drinking water, which were due to the 18,000 plus lead service lines in the system. The zinc orthophosphate forms a barrier on the inner coating of the pipe thus stopping the leeching of lead into the drinking water.
